Intention Plus Action Will Get Your Resolutions Fulfilled “Intention” is a big buzzword nowadays. In my leadership group, one woman in particular uses the word in almost every one of her communications. Sometimes I find myself responding: “I get your intention. And what ACTION are you going to take on that intention?” Intention is important and can be a huge motivator. But without action to follow it up, intention is just a nice thought. Telling my friend I intend to spend more time with her this year is actually hurtful if I don’t do it. Telling myself I intend to lose 5 pounds won’t get me far if I eat a box of cookies every day. As entrepreneur and author John Maxwell says in a recent interview about his book Intentional Living: Choosing a Life That Matters, “No one has ever been successful with good intentions alone. There has to be action.” I set out in 2015 with an intention to accomplish many thingsâ€"my new year’s “Ressaylutions.” Here’s the list and how I did: Roll out a new “responsive” (mobile-friendly) website.? Goal achieved! TheEssayExpert.com has launched in its new form and is mobile-friendly! I have a new home page as well which launched just last week and is almost the way I want it! Implement Infusionsoft.? Goal achieved. My e-lists are now on Infusionsoft, as are our client communication and tracking system. Thank you to my new Infusionsoft virtual assistant, Anastasia Barre, who is just fixed our affiliate program and unsubscribe process! Serve 250 clients.? Total clients for 2015 was 141, in part due to changes in the number of clients coming to me through my e-book. I also had some personal challenges that slowed things down over the summer and fall, but business picked back up nicely at the end of the year. I’m keeping this goal for 2016. Publish a print version of How to Write a KILLER LinkedIn Profile.? Done! Yay! Next step is to market the book. Implement a robust referral program. This project has been on hold with all the activity around Infusionsoft and my website, but people who refer paying clients to The Essay Expert can expect a gift from us! And I’m going to look at making the program more consistent in 2016. Increase college essay / personal statement portion of my business to 25% of business. ?I upped  my number of admissions consulting clients from last year, but still have not reached this goal. I realized that one thing stopping me was that I did not feel I had a good consultant in place to serve these clients. Recently I did bring on a consultant, a Yale alumna who is perfect for working with college applicants, so I feel more confident in marketing this service! I have a few resume writers sending me clients and I just got contacted by someone in China who might also be a source of referrals. I will continue to work on this one! Create more internal systems/guidelines. I have made progress in this area, adding and clarifying items in my agreements with my writers and also revamping some of the terms of service for clients. This is an ongoing project and will never end! It’s clear that the resolutions where I made the most progress were the ones where I took the most action. In order to increase weekday sales we have developed a plan for Stew’s Self Service Garage to reach a new customer base by improving the referral program, expanding its social media presence, targeting local community events, partnering with other local businesses and developing new advertising techniques to effectively reach our target market. First, Stew’s Self Service Garage should simplify and refine its current referral program. The current plan has a convoluted 11 tier rewards system that makes it difficult for consumers to remember, and therefore leads to fewer referrals. After performing a survey on what consumers want to be rewarded with for a referral, the second most popular selection was a free weekday hour. We see this a great way to motivate customers to refer new customers with a minimum loss of profits for Stew s Self Service Garage. For each referral they make that results in a new customer, they receive a free weekday hour to use at the shop. In order to entice the referee to come to the shop, we recommend that the referred customer be given a free weekday hour as well. Additionally, we considered developing a loyalty program to develop repeat customers and reward loyalty. Research mainly depends on the sample chosen for the questionnaire. Quality of sample must be representative of the entire population. Our method of research was the face-to-face interview and direct observations. Poverty-stricken people may differ in their view or even be biased because they may not be able to avail to some facilities. Questions involving a family’s reputation may not have been answered correctly. One question may be ‘whether polygamy was practiced any of their ancestral or family member?’. The main occupation of Kampel was agriculture. Agriculture requires laboring and spending time in the fields. The hectic schedule of the villagers may have affected the data collection implicitly. People of the village are careful about reporting anything against the fame of their village. They would not speak anything against the fame of village to an outsider. So they may not have presented a clear idea of the village. For example, the data collected by us reports fewer crimes in the village but the police station in the village did have a crowd presence. So the biases of the respondent may have affected the data. Face-to-face interview involves questioning some irrelevant questions so that interviewee may feel familiar and comfortable. This leads to wastage of time. Group members included non-Hindi speakers so this may have become hurdles for them in asking quality questions. Therefore research may be missing data. Having some previous knowledge about the village would help the researcher to choose and communicate to the better sample population. Sex And Darkness In Macbeth Sex and Darkness in Shakespeare's Macbeth Shakespeare's Macbeth presents more than the simple tale of a murder and revenge. Macbeth wants to be king, and Duncan stands in his way. However, Macbeth hesitates. His wife, Lady Macbeth, must urge him on strongly, like a rider whipping a horse. Macbeth does not want to commit the murder because it creates a conflict in his unconscious mind. Specifically, the act of plunging a knife into Duncan's breast is like the sex act, making the murder a homosexual act for Macbeth. For Lady Macbeth, on the other hand, it is a reversal of the normal sexual roles. She has plays the dominant, male role, forcing her husband and Duncan both to take the submissive, female role. She is much stronger than her husband, and she uses her strength to force him into the act of murder. Most of the action in Macbeth takes place in the darkness that comes just before dawn. The murder, the nightmares, and the confession all take place in the hours of the night when most people are sleeping, either alone or with a lover. When the blood begins to flow, it becomes a metaphor for sex. Lady Macbeth displaces her desire to destroy her husband onto Duncan, and Macbeth displaces his desire to dominate his wife sexually onto Duncan. The poor victim of these psychological mechanisms, Duncan, is killed more like the victim of a rape than the victim of a murder. When his blood flows, and his life ebbs away, Lady Macbeth feels a sexual orgasm, and Macbeth feels the loss of his erection at the end of the act. Macbeth is trying to prove his manhood by committing the murder, and Lady Macbeth is unconsciously expressing her desire to possess the power of a man, which Freud called penis envy. The murder causes a greater conflict for Lady Macbeth because of her deep psychological problem, which is that she cannot accept her position in the world as a member of the weak female sex. Lady Macbeth feels dirty after the murder because she has unconsciously engaged in a forbidden sexual act. By watching her husband plunge the knife into Duncan, she has experienced the erection and the orgasm of a man. She also experiences the let-down that follows. She tries to wash off the blood, the same way that most people take a shower after making love. She cannot remove the blood because she cannot remove her feeling of guilt. Lady Macbeth's strength allows her to plan the murder and urge her husband to carry it through. Her ego is satisfied with this act of male sexual power. However, this strength comes from the instinctive level of the id, and her superego fails to control its destructive power. After killing Duncan, she turns the power of her own id against herself, becoming insane because she has not successfully repressed her id.
